Foundation Leaders to Meet with Congressional Representatives
Posted on 11/19/2019 by Foundation for Airway Health
This week, Foundation Chairman Dr. Howard Hindin and Drs. Larry Tilley and Richard Klein will meet with Congressional representatives - who happen to be some of the five dentists currently serving in Congress. The purpose is to discuss the far-reaching effects of airway centered disorders (ACD) and the steps that can be taken to provide increased awareness and access to care for this important unmet need. The Foundation is grateful to Dr. Klein for his tireless efforts to arrange this meeting.
ACD issues affect all persons of any age; altering health, performance, learning and quality of life. There is a need for increased public policy initiatives as well as legislation. ACD issues are the most unrecognized and unaddressed factor in our health care system. Currently, government agencies monitor, regulate, and protect the quality of our food and water. We read about recalls of produce and other food products and our tainted water supply, and we make our food choices more carefully and drink bottled water to reduce risks. Yet sleep and airway still do not get enough attention, and it’s time to change that!
Healthcare practitioners from every discipline can be Pledged Providers and appear in our directory of airway-friendly care providers. Parents, teachers, counselors, everyone can become an Airway Advocate. It’s easy! Read on to learn how to identify the signs and symptoms of ACD among family and friends. And if symptoms are recognized, suggest a visit with a practitioner who can do further screening, complete diagnosis and comprehensive treatment.
If anyone can be trained to learn CPR and save a life, anyone can learn to recognize ACD and change a life.
