The Foundation for Airway Health Presents Acclaimed Airway Summit 2020
Posted on 11/18/2020 by Foundation for Airway Health
The Foundation for Airway Health Presents Virtual Airway Summit 2020: From Screening to Effective Management: What You Need to Know about Sleep Related Breathing Disorders This year’s meeting will be virtual - and registration and CE are free for all registered dentists and hygienists. The Foundation is partnering with the Dental Sleep Practice magazine publication to present a stellar line up of presenter and airway / sleep presentations. Topics range from recognition and screening to diagnosis, treatment, and the business of incorporation sleep in a practice. As the Foundation reaches more of the public, raising awareness about hidden airway problems, more practitioners of all disciplines will be needed to provide care. Screening for Airway and Sleep Related Breathing Disorders is becoming the standard of practice for dentistry. In October 2017, the ADA approved a policy statement emphasizing dentistry’s role in screening for sleep-related breathing disorders. Learn what you need to know to meet this standard of care – or – to exceed it and provide more for your patients and practice. Whatever your goal this presentation is for you and your entire team. Sleep Related Breathing Disorders (SRBDs) are a set of potentially serious medical conditions – snoring, upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS), obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and others – characterized by disruptions in normal breathing patterns. Metabolic, cardiovascular, respiratory, dental and other diseases have been found to be related to SRBD. This program covers sleep disordered breathing, clinical implications of heart rate variability, pediatric assessments and collaborative treatments for pediatric SRBD, as well as the latest information on the ADA sleep disorders policy and healthcare inequality. Leading dental educators, scientific academy representatives, allied health organizations, representatives from industry and members of the public will offer information about what the dental team must know, and can do to impact positive health change for patients. Learn from more than 10 leading experts in the field from around the globe. This is an excellent place to begin your sleep education as well as to expand it to new levels. Learn to: • Be aware of the scope of and prevalence of SRBD • Assess a patient’s risk for SRBD as part of a comprehensive medical and dental history • Refer affected patients to appropriate physicians • Understanding the clinical implications of HRV • Gain knowledge of dental and non-dental collaborative treatments for pediatric SRBD For more information and to register for FREE for any, or all of these sessions, please visit the Greater New York Dental Meeting website at:...

Hands-on training provide you with skill refreshers, new approaches and techniques not found anywhere else. Whether you are a rookie or a seasoned practitioner, this program will strengthen your understanding of the core elements of screening for airway and sleep disorders, as well as delve into contemporary perspectives and practices for the management of this complex population. This course reviews the core elements of evaluating airway and sleep, but it does so much more. Our presenter, Julia Worrall, bridges the gap between airway and breathing, sleep and daytime function, mindbody, psychosocial implications, pain conditions, postural implications, and why any practitioner who lays hands on a patient should have a thorough knowledge of this foundational physiological need.
